Texas A&M’s Valentin Vacherot falls in ITA All-American Round of 16

TULSA, Oklahoma –Texas A&M's Valentin Vacherot dropped a hard fought match in the ITA Men's All-American Championship Round of 16 Saturday morning in Tulsa, Okla.

No. 25 Vacherot fell 6-4, 6-4 to No. 50 Alex Brown of Illinois after the match was forced indoors due to rain in the Sooner state. Vacherot finished the week 2-1 against the star-studded field, topping No. 23 Aswin Lizen of Virginia and Alexandre Rotsaert of Stanford.

The Aggies were one of six schools with three players in the main draw and one of five schools with multiple underclassmen. The 2018 tournament marks the first time since 2015 that the Maroon & White have qualified a trio into the main draw.

The University of Tulsa is hosting the Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championship for the 13th straight season, with matches taking place on the courts of the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. Main draw matches are set to continue through Monday.

In addition to vying for the All-American national title, players are competing to secure a berth into the 2018 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships, which takes place November 7-11, in Surprise, Arizona. Singles quarterfinalists, consolation singles champion and finalist, along with doubles semifinalists and consolation doubles champion and finalist advance to the end of fall national championship.
