No. 10 Texas A&M rolls over Incarnate Word 149-129 to close out the fall season

COLLEGE STATION, Texas--- The No. 10 Texas A&M men's swimming and diving team beat the Incarnate Word Cardinals, 149-129, Saturday afternoon at the Texas A&M Student Recreation Natatorium.

"This meet was all about stepping up in any situation possible, racing, competing, with a lot of our guys going out there and doing what they have to do," Aggie head coach Jay Holmes said. "This was really a detail type meet, with what we really wanted to work on, and I'm really thankful Incarnate Word gave us a great opportunity to race them."

The Aggies didn't waste any time in the 200 yard medley relay with a sweep of the top three spots with freshman standout Shaine Casas leading the winning relay (1:29.08) alongside Benjamin Walker, Angel Martinez, and Adam Koster. They were followed by Mike Thibert, Jacob Schababerle, Connor Long, and Steven Richardson (1:32.61), while Anthony Kim, Tanner Olson, Clayton Bobo, Mark Theall followed right behind them in third (1:33.23).

Junior Mike Thibert led the way for the Aggies with a trio of individual wins on the day in the 100 yard backstroke (50.15), 50 yard freestyle (20.56), and the 100 yard IM (50.15).

Junior Benjamin Walker earned two individual wins on the day earning gold in the 100 yard breaststroke (54.62), and the 200 yard breaststroke (2:00.13).

Sophomore Felipe Rizzo touched the wall first earning gold in the 500 yard freestyle (4:34.34).

Texas A&M also grabbed the top three places in the 200 IM with freshman Alberto Gomez grabbing the gold medal in (1:54.13), with Hudson Smith coming in second (1:55.19), and Rizzo (1:56.02) followed right behind.

Senior Angel Martinez earned another individual win on the season earning gold in the 200 yard freestyle (1:40.70).

Freshman Luke Stuart grabbed his first individual win on the season in the 200 yard butterfly (1:51.35).

Junior Adam Koster continued his winning ways touching the wall first in the 100 yard freestyle (45.49).

Junior Anthony Kim took home gold in the 200 yard backstroke (1:51.74).

Sophomore Kurtis Matthews earned his second individual win on the season in the 1-meter dive (391.58) and finishing second in the 3-meter dive (302.04).

Texas A&M closed out the meet with a strong victory in the 200 freestyle relay with the foursome of Bobo, Kim, Rizzo, Schababerle winning by over three second in (1:25.57).
