DALLAS--A&M stopped Heisman Trophy winner Bo Jackson on four tries at the Aggie end zone early in the fourth quarter to turn away Auburn's last shot at the lead before pulling away to a victory in the Aggies' first Cotton Bowl appearance in 18 years.

Quarterback Kevin Murray set a Cotton Bowl record with 292 yards through the air and Anthony Toney rushed for 122 yards and two scores on 17 carries. Aggie strong safety Domingo Bryant copped honors as the game's Outstanding Player for A&M by intercepting two passes, one to set up A&M's last touchdown.

The victory capped a 10-2 year for Jackie Sherrill's first Southwest Conference championship team.
