NEW ORLEANS--John Kimbrough rushed for 159 yards on 25 carries and scored two touchdowns as the Aggies erased a 13-7 deficit in the fourth quarter to end an 11-0 season and claim the national championship.
Homer Norton's Aggies entered the clash ranked No.1 in the polls and drove 69 yards in the final period to win the game on the strength of Kimbrough's rushing. Jim Thomason, Kimbrough’s backfield mate, kicked the game-winning conversion.
